DIVORCES & LEGAL SEPARATIONS
From pre-filing strategies to the final settlement agreement, we are prepared to assist our clients through the entire divorce or legal separation process. In some cases, it even makes sense to do both: a legal separation to retain health benefits and then later a divorce when the benefits are no longer needed. Our signature process ensures that every client is fully heard and that their goals are foremost in every filing we make.
CHILD CUSTODY & SUPPORT, SPOUSAL SUPPORT
Whether the divorce/legal separation is brand new and you are the spouse seeking temporary spousal/child support, or it's time for a permanent award and you are the spouse seeking to minimize your support obligation, we are here to turn your knowledge and goals into pleadings the courts find compelling and persuasive. While we can't guarantee outcomes, we can guarantee that your points will be heard and addressed with the seriousness they deserve.
When it comes to child custody, you will not find a more compassionate, engaged firm than Wachbrit Braverman PC. This practice was founded back in 1999 to protect children through nominations of guardians, and we carry that commitment to children forward into Family law practice. Research-based, our approach to child custody is rooted in the best interests of the child, which may not reflect the court's favored 50/50 approach. Yet with this scientific approach, courts are often willing to award disproportionate custody or to make unusual Orders to support visitation.
PRENUPTIAL & POSTNUPTIAL AGREEMENTS
Some couples want their finances to remain separate after marriage. Others want to ensure that spousal support will never be an issue. Still others make postnuptial agreements to reduce capital gains taxes. Whatever your goals, we have the knowledge and experience to translate them into enforceable documents that will stand up to court or IRS scrutiny when it matters most.
LOWER FEES & FIXED FEES
While we do not compete in the lower end of the fee market, and no one should come to us expecting to pay much less than market rates, it does please our clients to know that our Family Law services are offered at lower hourly rates than our published rate schedule. To learn more, call Diedre at (805) 276-1620. We have lowered our rates in this practice area for three reasons:
(1) we don't want clients to turn away because our fees are above-average: we want clients to feel comfortable that they are paying fair fees for excellent services.
(2) This is a growth practice area for us so we are actively seeking clients to help us expand our experience and knowledge in the area.
(3) Family law cases can be very expensive for those with difficult or litigious spouses, and we don't want out clients to end up "out spent" by the opposition and unable to defend themselves through to trial if that's what it takes.
We also offer fixed fees for all uncontested family law matters so that you can have the peace of mind of knowing exactly what your expenses will be.
